Healing Hands Massage and Ayurvedic Spa Specialist issues helpful hints on engaging a Kapha balanced Ayurvedic Lifestyle. Ayurvedic practitioners, understand that the Universe and all of its components are made up of five elements: space, air, fire, water, earth. Each element relates to one of the five human senses: speech, sight, sound, touch, and taste. Ayurvedic medicine is based on the concept of tridosha, or the three doshas. Doshas are energetic forces that manifest from the five elements to support the basic functions of our mind body connection. All three doshas must work together in harmony to attain perfect well being.

Kapha is earth and provides solidity. Water offers cohesiveness. United, they form the Kapha dosha, which has a heavy, cold, oily and cohesive property. Kapha is responsible for structure and solidity. It stabilizes the subtlety of thoughts in the mind and elongates memory. It also binds and lubricates our physical tissues with mucus, body fluids, and plasma, which provide structure and firmness to the body.

An ‘in balance’ Kapha Affectionate, compassionate, forgiving emotionally steady, relaxed, slow, methodical, good memory, good stamina, stability, natural resistance to sickness.

A Kapha who is ‘out of balance’ Complacent, dull, oily skin, allergies slow digestion, lethargic, possessive, over attached, tendency to oversleep, overweight.

Causes of Kapha imbalances: Excessive rest and oversleeping, overeating, insufficient exercise, too little variety in life, heavy, unctuous foods, too much sweet, sour or salty food cold, wet weather.

Going Kapha – In order to gain a Kapha balance, the following are suggested:

*Best to favor bitter and astringent tastes in diet and herbs

Minimum sleep
Fast twenty-fours a week
Physical and mental exercise
Sexual intercourse
Light dinner in evening
Best stones – yellow topaz, coral, diamond
No breakfast before 10 am
Best metal to use on the body is copper, iron
Best colors are yellow, brown, red
Use dry, sour, pungent and hot substances
Take regular bath and sauna to promote sweating

Question by Carly: Are there any other dogs, besides poodles that are ok for people with dog allergies?
I plan to get a dog in a few years ,after I move out, & I was just wondering if poodles were the only dogs that were better for a dog owner to have? The doctor said for dogs it was 15,000 *allergies points or soemthing). & i was just curious if anyother dogs besides poodles were better for allergy sufferers? Thanks in advance. I am just a dog lover & love all kinds of dogs & animals & was just seeing my options. Thanks. & also i have had dogs and cats and other farm animals all my life, and i have never had a poodle, i currently own a bluehealer stock dog mix. I am just asking which breed of dog would be more healthy for me. Plus my allergies could just go away overtime because the cause of my allergies was being premature. Not that you care lol.But that makes me happy because thers a chance that my allergies could go away but just incase i want to be ahead of the game, i am also allergic to cats, but not as much.

The Make Life Better Foundation announced today they successfully introduced their mission to combat obesity and diabetes around the world to The Hunger Games teen celebrities and their families, last month at the Kids’ Choice Awards Celebrity Fund Raising Event. The event benefitted the American Cancer Society and was hosted by GBK Productions, BOP & Tiger Beat at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills.

The Hunger Games, which started as a young adult novel written by American television writer and novelist Suzanne Collins, was first published on September 2008. The story is about 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives in a post-apocalyptic world in the country of Panem where the countries of North America once existed. The Capitol, a highly advanced metropolis, holds hegemony over the rest of the nation. The Hunger Games are an annual event in which one boy and one girl aged 12 to 18 from each of the 12 districts surrounding the Capitol are selected by lottery to compete in a televised battle until only one person is left.

The Make Life Better Foundation teen team?Christopher (age 15), McKall (age 15), Kylie (age 13), and Nate (age 11)?introduced the foundation to the Kids? Choice Awards nominees and presenters and their families, and were especially delighted to meet teen stars from The Hunger Games movie. The foundation team talked with Hunger Games stars Amandla Stenberg (who played ?Rue?), Kalia Prescott (who played the tribute from District 3), and Willow Shields (who played Prim).

Since its initial release, the Hunger Games novel has been translated into 26 languages and rights of production have been sold in 38 countries. The book received mostly positive feedback from major reviewers and authors. The opening weekend of the movie release at the box office was the third-best debut of all time and reached domestic numbers of $ 155 million. International numbers in over 67 markets were impressive according to Lionsgate the company which released the movie.

“I loved meeting Amandla who plays Rue in the Hunger Games,” said Kylie, member of the Make Life Better Foundation teen team. “We told her and her mom about the Make Life Better Foundation and they said what Unicity is doing to help people with diabetes is really cool.”

The Make Life Better Foundation teen team had celebrities sign their bright orange Make Life Better Foundation t-shirts as part of their effort to raise funds for the Make Life Better Foundation.

Unicity also donated an array of products to the American Cancer Society and the Kids Choice Event honorees and presenters, including their popular Bios Life Slim product. Bios Life Slim, created by Unicity, assists with managing blood glucose levels, cholesterol levels, and weight loss?three major concerns worldwide. Bios Life Slim also limits the impact of carbohydrate intake through its proprietary Slim Multiplier and is designed to help curb appetite between meals while maintaining necessary energy levels throughout the day.

Celebrities and their families were delighted to hear about the Make Life Better mission and the products donated.

President of Unicity, Brent Morrill, was pleased to represent his company in making a donation to the event and joined the teen team of the Make Life Better Foundation as they shared the foundation?s life-changing mission with stars and their families.

“It was great to join Hollywood stars at the American Cancer Society Birthday Bash and share a message of good health and long life,” said Brent Morrill, President of Unicity. “The Make Life Better Foundation team made a great impression on teen stars and their families as they shared their message of hope and health and products donated through the hard work, dedication, passion, and patronage of Unicity Franchise Partners, customers, and employees.”

The event the Make Life Better Foundation attended was held at the end of March to honor Kids’ Choice Award nominees and presenters and was sponsored by GBK Productions, BOP & Tiger Beat?recipient of multiple BizBash Awards for ‘Best Gift Bag’ who offered its exclusive list of invited celebrities, VIPs, and media an opportunity to enjoy an exciting environment with gifts, refreshments and a charitable focus. Nashville, Tenn. (PRWEB) May 08, 2012

Not all doctors are concerned with profit, author Dr. Diana Reed would argue that most are concerned with nurturing patient care. In her new book, “The Other End of the Stethoscope” (published by AuthorHouse), Dr. Reed takes a hard look at the healthcare system today, not only from a doctor’s perspective, but also from that of a patient. After experiencing a spinal injury and five subsequent surgeries, Reed is now disabled and uninsurable due to work-related pre-existing conditions.

“My hope for this book is to help get national health care enacted to improve health care in this country for patients and doctors, by educating the public about the current problems faced by doctors these days,” says Reed. “I have a personal story to tell.”

Reed firmly believes that physicians must get back into caring and honorable practices that our current health care system no longer provides because of bureaucratic greed. She argues the political system in place further propagates that our health care system runs more like a business than a service that feeds the needs of the patient.

The Other End of the Stethoscope offers statistics to show the huge dropout of physicians in private practice, who are increasingly seeking alternative careers due to rising job dissatisfaction because of rising overhead, decreased reimbursement, and loss of autonomy.

Health care reform doesn’t just affect citizens, but doctors as well.

About the Author:

Dr. Reed was born in New York, trained in California, attending UC Irvine for medical school and UC San Diego for Neurology residency. Dr Reed had two children during medical school. She is a board certified Neurologist who has worked in five states, from private solo practice to large group practices, from locum tenens to an academic practice in a major university medical school. She has been published in the Journal of Surgical Pathology and Neurology, and given numerous lectures. In the peak of her clinical career, she became disabled. After five spine surgeries, she is now retired and lives near Nashville, Tenn.
