Question: Will A&D ointment help my cat's irritated skin?
( Back )
Answer #1:
I wouldn't put that ointment there. With the permission of a vet, you can discuss rubbing in some hydrocortisone cream on any areas particularly reddened. While you are using Advantage on your cat, are you treating your home environment also to eliminate the flea-egg cycle?
Answer #2:
A&D ointment - well it won't hurt your cat, my groomer has recommended it to me for skin irritations on my cats, saying that is what she uses on her cats. But I can't say for sure if it will help. The other poster who suggested talking the veterinarian about hydrocortisone cream may be right - definitely talk to the vet before using something like that on a cat (I have zero idea what an appropriate strength for a cat would be, dosages, frequency, etc. so that you need to get that info from a qualified source). Another possibility is that the cat might be allergic enough to flea bites that she needs Benedryl or some other antihistimine - so that is another topic to bring up with the vet.And you may have to pitch a fit about your sister's dog, as it is damaging your cat's health.
