Give the nervous cat some time to get used to the dog. Can you take the dog for a walk or put it outside and feed the cat at that time or call the cat to come down to eat then? I think it will work out in time. Some cats are very leery of dogs and it can take a few weeks or months. Once the cat starts tobe less afraid see if you can get the dog to lie down and stay and call the cat down to eat.

Make sure the cat has escape routes or places, that will go a long way toward helping her feel safe. Not only is the dog strange, but the whole place is from what you've posted.... a couple of good kitty hiding places downstairs that the cat can get into, but the dog can't should help immensely.Answer #4:
