Question #1:
I'm new to being gluten free and have a question..?
Ok, I've been anemic for a long time now and my doctor did a stool test on me and found some damage to my bowel that he thinks is from gluten intolerance or celiac disease, so now I'm getting a gene test to confirm it but I haven't gotten it yet..but he still wants me to go ahead and start a gluten free diet so I have, but with all the research I've done, people are saying its sooo hard to eat out and I've already eaten out twice since I started this diet 4 days ago and of course I didnt get exactly what I would have wanted on the menu but it wasnt that difficult. I just got some grilled fish that hadn't been marinaded (i checked with the waitress) and steamed veggies w/o sauce on one occasion and a salad with red cabbage, rice and beans and salsa and sour cream with corn chips on the other occasion and I'm thinking I must be doing something wrong because its not that hard to find something gluten free (several things actually) at practically any restaurant. It just seems too easy. I feel like maybe there's hidden gluten everywhere and that's what it seems like some people are saying, they freak out about cross contamination, but is it THAT serious if you get a trace from cross contamination? Ive heard some say they feel like rusty razor blades are shredding their insides from eating a trace of gluten, but that never happened to me even when i was eating gluten all the time. I don't think i have the usual symptoms of it.. mine are nausea, unexplained anemia, poor nutrient absorption (results from the stool test), weakness, getting tired and worn out easily, insomnia, etc. Could it be that I'm just not as sensitive to gluten as some others? Does anyone else with a gluten allergy stay on a gluten free diet, yet not completely obsess about cross contamination?Question #2:
I'm allergic to avocados?
My friend and I have been in this argument for years now, I'm finally getting around to researching it. I know for a fact that eating avocados makes me throw up, violently. I tell him I'm allergic to avocados and he flat out denies it. He says that he doesnt believe me, and I tell him 'ok, well maybe im not technically allergic but it makes me sick'....now my question is if a food makes you sick, does that mean you're allergic to it? Or is there a difference between food allergies and foods that make you throw up?Question #3:
Dog rashes? Help? (20 characters)?
Your gonna tell me to go to the vet right? Well yes i am. I just wanna know what you guys think before i make an appointment. My puppy, now nearly 4 months old, has inflammation on her neck bellly and some others places. i did some research and thought it was allergies so i gave her a super tiny peice of benydral since she only weighs like 5 lbs. She has pinkish brown bumps on her belly and spread more since yesterday.I had some old shampoo from 2 years back that used to be my older dogs shampoo. There was no experation date so i used it. Could that be the problem? So far i stopped using the shampoo asnd washed her with warm water only.
The Expert lol - Benydral is safe for dogs, so it's fine. Just research it. :)
Nedra E - yup 1mg per pound. My pupppy is 5 pounds so 5 mg.
Question #4:
What's wrong with my eye? D: (kind of gross)?
This morning I woke up and I couldn't open my eye. I was eventually able to pry it open there was this nasty yellow crap attached from the top eyelid to the bottom one. I was like, eh whatever, wiped it off, took my contact out, and got in the shower. When I got out of the shower, my eye was still really pink and veiny, so I started looking up how to get rid of bloodshot eyes. While researching this, I figured I had pink eye and put some contact solution in my eye. That made it feel a little better and less sensitive, and it got a little less red.
Now my eye's all red again, but there's no more of that yellow nastiness coming from it, it's just watering and sensitive. I also don't have any allergies, and it's just in one eye :/ Is this pink eye? Because I thought pink eye didn't water, it was just pus
Question #5:
Questions about the process of selling my eggs?
I am doing some research about selling my eggs and I was wondering if anyone with experience doing so or with experience working in a clinic can enlighten me on this. I would like to know what I am in for, what kinds of questions they would ask, if I'm a candidate, etc.I have been sitting on this for a year and I feel I am ready to take this step. I mean, being on a five year birth control (Mirena), I am NOT planning on having any kids of my own I am childless and I am staying that way, and that's another thing, would I have too have my IUD removed for this? If I don't, would the meds affect it's use? Would I have to abstain from sex at all? I figure I should list everything about me now, since I cannot reply to any questions.
I am 21, 5'1 or 2 feet tall and weigh approx 104-106 lbs. I have dark hair, and blue eyes. I wear glasses but I wear contacts mostly. I have a noticeable red birthmark on my face, but it has never caused me any problems (and from what my dermatologist tells me if not hereditary), and I have always had very light acne problems. I have hyper mobility in my elbows and thumbs, meaning I am super flexible and can bend these joints around, do some contortion, etc.
I have been on "Mirena" since November 24, 09 and I have a tilted uterus that my GYN says he can fix, but right now on my right ovary I have a 4cm cyst that hasn't popped or developed into anything yet. my GYN says this can be fixed somehow, but I was wondering if that will decrease my chances of donating?
my education is pretty average, college student. very imaginative in art, pretty great at science, weak in math and English comp. I am really active, since i live on a farm, so I barely ever get to sit still and only have a mild allergy to dogs (I have 4 hairy ones :) ) I have a great sense of humor and strong ethics (I heard that helps) and I barely ever drink, if I had to make a guesstimate, I would say maybe I'll have a drink maybe every few months? Normally wine, maybe a rum and coke. I do not smoke or do any form of drugs, unless it's prescription from the doctor, if I am sick or something.
Would I be a good candidate for this? Who should I go to, my GYN or a different clinic? If I donate/sell would I still be about to get money for them? What should I say to the people I have to talk too? If I am a candidate, so i have to make a tape or something so, kids could see and hear me talk? I thought they do that when guys donate sperm?
This is my own personal choice, I'm sorry if it seems callous. I would like to do this to earn some extra money to help me with school/food/rent and this way would also provide a sterile couple a chance to have a baby. So please, only people who have had some experience with this situation or knows a great deal about it?
Thanks :)

Question #7:
Adopting a puppy, shihpoo or pekeapoo Needing hypoallergenic.?
We are adopting either a Shihpoo or Pekeapoo. Our child has allergies but is not allergic to poodles a Pomeranian of his Grandma's he was petting literally put him in the hospital. I was reading about the different breeds. Shih Tzus, and poodles are usually low/no shed, but the Pekineses is a shedder. But a Pekeapoo is listed as hypoallergenic. What are your experiences with these two hybrid breeds and allergies? We like the Pekeapoo more than the Shihpoo but either will do fine. We'd like to surprise him and not traumatize him with more breathing treatments so research has to be done. The lady at the shelter swears the Pekeapoo shouldn't affect him.We are adamant on adopting and do not want a purebred poodle, bichon, etc... Many websites claim they are good for people with allergies I was seeking real life experience not opinion.
You people are trolls. Yes he wants a dog. We had the pleasure of a poodle and relative staying with us. He loved the Poodle and played with it 24/7 without ONE issue. But he is very allergic to Pomchi's/Pomeranians severely. We have been trying to find him a puppy and he can't go to the shelter there are Pomeranians there and perhaps a slew of other cats/dogs he'd be severely allergic to. I do not like Poodles nor does my spouse. They are over-priced and look goofy. We wanted something that actually looks appealing to us too since it'll be in our lives for 15 some years.
Question #8:
Pesto and Basil Allergy?
I seem to have an allergy to basil and pesto. Every time I eat even tiny piece of basil or a drop of pesto I have stomach cramps, burps and nausea. I used to be able to eat basil before. I did some research and it appears to be extremely rare or nonexistent that people have allergies to basil. Could this be an allergy to some contaminant, like fertilizer or herbicide or insecticide they use on basil? I am not otherwise allergic to other foods. Any ideas?Question #9:
can having a child cause hormonal changes?
I'm starting to do a lot more research on all my problems I've had since late December of 2009 and am starting to think that having my son threw me into not only post partum depression, but early menopause as well.I started getting boils in the beginning of 2008 (almost 4 years after having my son) and they finally stopped coming in the past month, but I now have small holes in my skin which I am going to get operated on for soon (unless they come up with another treatment that will help me).
Between 2004 and January of this year I had a TERRIBLE time of trying to loss weight and now that I've lost it, my mind seems to have lost it as well. I tried two different birth controls in this time frame, along with antidepressants and now I'm on bp meds and iron pills.
I'm almost constantly hormonal, when I bleed I get allergies, and I've never had allergies before this.
I just want to know if all this points to menopause or not, because my doctor thinks I've become bipolar.
I'm tired of losing sleep wondering if I'm dying. I want answers not more guesses.
Question #10:
Can aquariums make us sick?
Until recently, my husband had gone quite a few years without getting sick. Now, he's gotten a stomach bug twice in the past two months (vomiting, etc.). We've done some research on the differences between food poisoning and communicable viruses, and I had another thought...The only difference in our household during this time has been that he's started helping take care of our aquarium that he previously didn't touch until a couple months ago. When I change the water, feed, etc. I'm meticulous about wearing gloves, using one hand to do "gross" fish things and another hand to touch everything else and thoroughly washing and sanitizing afterward. He's not quite so careful. I've caught him sticking his hand in the tank, then touching light switches, doorknobs and faucets. Even if I come into contact with these surfaces after not knowing he's done this, I'm extremely (to the point of OCD) careful about washing and sanitizing before I eat or touch my face, so it's never been an issue for me. For him, even if he washes his hands after doing the fish stuff, he'll still touch these surfaces later then go touch his food.
What I'm wondering is whether or not aquariums with fish can harbor any specific viruses or diseases in the water that could cause a stomach illness. It's just a little odd that he'd gone so many years without getting sick before, and this has happened two completely separate times this summer.
Btw, we've ruled out anything like Celiac disease and food intolerance or allergies. When he gets sick, he also has body aches and fever. My question at this point is only about the aquariums. And even if that's not what's making him sick, it will still be good to know what kinds of diseases we can catch from our fish tanks!
Thank you : )
Question #11:
Yeast Infection in Fixed Female Dog?
So I’ve done a lot of research. My dog has been in and out of vets offices for allergies, HOWEVER, no vets ever addressed issues regarding discharge from her Vagina. Her current symptoms are as follows:
-Itchy face
- red rings around eyes
- licking her lips funny
- licking/chewing her legs and paws
- red waxy ears
- discharge from vagina, excess licking of vagina (scooting when her cone is on)
- She used to have crusty spots on her tummy
Our dog is now on probionics and is getting washed “down there” with some tea tree oil and water. Our dog has been seen by 3 different vets for allergies and have spent over $1500 in the past 2 months. She seems to be getting better slowly, but I’m wondering if there is something else we could be doing.
ANYWAYS, I’ve heard of a lot of different ways to get rid of a yeast infection, but I’m looking for a personal experience. How were you able to clear up your dogs yeast infection? What worked for you? How long did it take? Thank you.
The dog has been on special food for several months - Duck and Potato RX from vet because he thought it was a food allergy. we have seen no change in her while on the food.
Dog is also medicated with
- 75MG Benadryl
- Pregnazone (dont htink i'm spelling that right.)
- Probiotics
PS. Check out my previouse question to see the full run down of when this started and all the prev treatments.
Question #12:
Honey For Treatment Of Seasonal Allergies? Any Personal Testimonials?
Contemplating using local honey to alleviate allergy symptoms but I cannot find any good research on it being done or any testimony from actual people etc. Please let me know if this remedy is worth my time - from your own personal experiences :)Question #13:
Is Grass Or Wind Driven Pollen Found In Honey?
Ok, So I am trying to do some research on the theory that a few tsps or tablespoons of honey a day will help relieve allergies, the problem with the theory is that many allergic "pollens" are wind driven and not the flowering pollen that the bee's will pick up when they land on those flowers. I would also enjoy it if people will give me the references for their answers!Question #14:
Help my dog has horrible allergies!?
I think my dog has allergies and he is literally pulling his hair out by chewing himself and licking. Its mostly on his back and the skin where he is doing it is scaly and flaky, it looks like he has dandruff. My husband just medically retired from the military and is looking for a job so right now we just dont have the money for vet care. I'm currently researching programs that can help us with the costs. But my question is, does anyone know any good shampoos or at home remedies that can help my dog in the meantime?Question #15:

Question #16:
What is the efficacy of Doxcycline in treating Syphilis?
I was curious what the efficacy of Doxcycline in treating Syphilis was ? Disregarding the stage of the infection, the data available seems to suggest the same level of serotologic success; however, I have not located a full-scale clinical trail with results comparing the efficacy of standard Penicillin to Doxcycline in the statistical clinical aggregate. The closet thing I could find was a relatively small study in 2008 by T. Wong which showed promising results, but not definitive results, for a similar serotologic success. 25 out of the 25 patients treated with Doxcycline were treated succussfully with a Doxcycline regimen, whereas only 409/435 were treated successfully with penicillin. Where are the studies -- do they exist? --- with at least a few hundred patients being treated with Doxcycline? Given that the penicillin allergy rate is between 5 and 10 percent of the general population, varying in severity from mild rashes to full-blown shock, it would seem this would be more researched, given the decades long use of Doxcycline in treating syphilis and the need to have a well established alternative.Question #17:
Is there evidence of insects migrating away from the equator because of a warming climate?
Are there any predictions for diseases that spread as a result of this? If so, please provide predictions, evidence and sources of information. I live near Chicago, Illinois and I went frisbee golfing (frolfing) earlier today and got tons of mosquito bites because the course was in the woods. Even though I put on bug spray they seem to like to bite me more than other people, so I went home to research some reasons why mosquitoes like certain people. I found an article on Web MD that says that there were outbreaks of Dengue fever in the US in 2009 and again in 2010. I also know that the West Nile Virus is relatively new in the US and I've heard of cases of people getting it around where I live. Is this an indication of mosquitoes migrating north? The article also suggested malaria could be the next to come to the US. Are the West Nile Virus and Dengue fever outbreaks evidence of mosquitoes migrating north that can be linked to global warming? Here's the article: Click Here
Question #18:
SEPSIS? What type of disease is this?! O.O? Back to Recluse Spider...?
Okay a little while ago i asked about that bug thats venomous called The Recluse Spider that my friend got bitten by. She is of course dead now. The doctors said she had a low blood count and that her red blood cells and white blood cells were fighting each other. When I explained this to someone else, they told me she sounded like she had Sepsis. The doctors still have not done the autopsy. I did research and found out that Sepsis can come from a bite from this bug. Now, i am really freaked out. I'm sorry if I sound fanatical, I just really want to be aware and know why she died. This of course happened to my friends in Tennessee and I hear it can happen in Illinois where I live. I'm quite paranoid, guys. Seriously, I don't even want to sleep in my bed because I'm scared a recluse spider is going to be in it. Usually I would be sleep at this time (where I live its about midnight) but I can't sleep at all without fear. Some people said it was an allergic reaction, so is Sepsis the result of the allergy? Thank you for your help. :(So as soon as you get bitten by the recluse spider, do you get Sepsis?
