Post nasal drip that won't go away: Can a cold *cause* allergies?

I had a cold back in June and since then have had constant post-nasal drip. The doctor diagnosed "allergic rhinitis", even though I never had allergies or post-nasal drip prior to getting a cold.

i tried using a neti pot and it doesn't work because the mucus just rebuilds.

Claritin provided some relief but i had terrible insomnia.

Question - Can a cold actually cause allergies after the cold is over ?

All of this because of fear that I will not be able to breath well. I have chronic allergic rhinitis that makes me not able to breath well and feels like chocking ( ENT doctors said you have to live with it )

since young i have asthma problem.

And recently around 3~4 months until now i have been having itchy,blocked and runny nose even though i am not having any flu or cold symptoms,also it would make me sneeze more than 20 times when i wake up.

My eyes would also be very very itchy and of cos i will always rub it cause is annoying,and this is my 3rd time having the "allergic conjunctivitis" this month.

i also doubt that is sinus,well it also cause me to have breathing dificulty while trying to sleep.

It feels quite similiar to hay fever/rhinitis but my mother said that it mostly affect western people more,so couldn't be it?

i when to the doctor 2 weeks ago about my conjunctivitis and runny/blocked nose,and he just give me eyedrop and normal chlorpheniramine for cold like symptoms,it didn't work of cos. = ="

i did told him about the rhinitis and he said he can recommend me a reference letter to go check up at the specialist,but also said it would be troublesome thing,so i reject that.


Now my eyes have the same clear like mucus surrounding my whole eyes,i try to use my nail and pull it out but is impossible, its also blocking my vision and annoying as its watery.

I am from singapore btw,so if you know any medication i can get here or remedies that can stop this annoying symptom please help.

Also how do i remove the "clear mucus" around my whole eyes? it cause my eyes to hurt while looking at light.

How can I improve my immune system?

Basically, I have a really awful immune system, I've had 3 colds over the 3 months that I've been off over Summer, I have asthma, I have allergic rhinitis as well as severe allergies to grass, tartrazine and aspirin, I also suffer from eczema.

So, basically, you can imagine what my immune system must be like. ;x

I got a nail infection, pinky nail, about ...3 months back, I treated it at home with hot salt water soaks and tea tree oil. I got another infection on the same hand, middle finger, treated it with tea tree oil again. Now I have one on the other hand, middle finger again, I'm doing the same.

But what I've noticed is that I had an infection AROUND the nail before I got the actual nail infection. ;x

I've also read that nail infections can be a result of a poor immune system.

I generally eat well, I don't always get my 5 a day, but I do like fruit, especially! :D

So, can anyone give me any ideas to improve my immune system, things that I can do easily, and preferably cheaply as well, I'm only a student.

I need help..please. ENT's, speakers, anyone lol No sickness!?

I have terrible sinus problems, that most ENT's point to allergies, the allergist says i have no allergies, so it's sinusitis or rhinitis...anyway, i can't find any relief and i am going insane. I have sooooooo much clear white plehgm [spit] that i have to either spit all the time or swallow it which makes my stomach sick. I am in need of relief please. I am doing public speaking for a few hours each Saturday and don't know if i can do it with all this sickness. Also, i am going to be working outside from 9-4 five days next week for an exercise thing. i've tried tons of nasal sprays, as well as zyrtec and claritin and the netti pot. I need help please.
sore throat is common side effect, also coughing. mainly just clearning throat and spit
like i have tons of drainage that goes to my throat that forces me to swallow it to make my throat and stomach hurt. agh.

could i be pregnant? im on the pill and we used protection but i have some symptoms.?

Im positive my last two periods were menstruation and not just vaginal bleeding . I am on the pill ( and take it religiously on time everyday) but i had to miss my first pill because i forgot to pickup my prescription from the pharmacy.I took the missed pill immediately when i got my prescription and we used protection. Im due for my period in about 2/3 days and they're always regular ( 28 day cycle ) but I've been feeling some symptoms. I have had light cramping earlier in the month a long with really slight nausea . That disappeared as the days went on, but now I have a runny nose and cold-like symptoms which i researched and could be pregnancy rhinitis . It could be my imagination but I feel like ive gained weight and feel just overall larger. I know you can trick your body into thinking its pregnant ( and my anxiety could probably do that ) I just would like some opinions. I'm educated about sexual intercourse so please none of those responses. I just need opinions.
It could be withdrawal bleeding cause i understand thats what your period is when you are on the pill, but what are the chances of getting pregnant on the pill and a condom?

How to determine if Sinus Infection or Atrophic Rhinitis?

What are some ways to determine which of the two above is the cause of a horrible odour from the nose/mouth.

I have had a horrible odour in my nose for 2 years. Ive had sinus infections but used antibiotics. So maybe atrophic rhinitis or chronic sinus infection.

What are some ways to tell? Also, the smell is also evident when I swallow mucus and it expels from my mouth.

Odor from the nose from sinus infection?

If someone has an odour but no obvious other symtpoms of sinus infection like headache or such can it be a sinus infection or something else is more likely? like atrophic rhinitis. I have hayfever but they never said if its atrophic.

Also, this odor isnt gone yet even with saline water, beconase(NASAL SPRAY) appler cider vineger, and sinus infection antibiotics.

Please help me. Say what you know!!

Bad smell from nose when I exhale?

I was diagnosed with rhinitis, caused by pollen and dust. Ive had sinus infections but a horrible odour is the problem. The odour is there even when I dont have sinus infection symptoms like headache etc.

My nose is sometimes painful to blow. I ve had the odour for like 2 years, its horrible.

So could it be atrophic rhinitis? Or chronic sinus infection?
Can a sinus infection cause horrible odour from nose but not all the other symptoms like headache?

My eye is really itchy and sore, what's causing it?

Hi! The lacrimal caruncle (small pink spherical like nodule at the inner corner of my eye) is extremely itchy. It's only happening in my left eye. Could this be due to my allergic rhinitis? However I've taken Clarinase but it still itches after quite some time. Sometimes, it gets sore too when I rub too much.

I had Rhinitis years ago and I think it had turn to a chronicle sickness. It's been 3 days that one of the side of my nose is blocked and now I'm having red and dry eyes (both of them, but the right one is slightly worse) . They cause sometimes burning pain when I look at the computer for about 30 minutes. Is this probably caused by Rhinitis? I'm going to see a doctor as soon as it's available. I'm freaking scared. I'm getting a surgery for rhinitis on Friday and I'm wondering whether it'll be painful?

The doctors say I have rhinitis mostly due to the structure of my nasal passages and he is going to do an endoscopic surgery to remove some blockage. Is it going to hurt after I wake up? I'm scared like heck lol
